Back in 2013, our founder Rupert Neudeck was already optimistic that the oppression of the Syrian people by the Assad regime would not last forever. At the time, no one expected that the liberation of Syria would take more than ten years.

Bonn, December 9, 2024 – Now it is a reality, and the Green Helmets rejoice with the millions of Syrians who have been displaced, tortured and oppressed by Assad – and with the relatives of the 500,000 people who have died in the civil war.

We have been supporting the victims of the civil war since 2012: In building hospitals in Azaz and Tal-Rafat in northern Syria, building schools for Syrian refugee children in Demirköpru in Turkey, with the dentist mobiles that have been in use in northern Aleppo since 2016, the Syrian refugees who have had to live in camps in Aarsal in Lebanon for more than ten years and the people in the Afrin region who, in addition to the civil war, were also victims of the earthquake in February 2023.

We celebrate with all of them the liberation of their homeland from the Assad regime and wish them and their families a new beginning with freedom and security in Syria.

We, the Green Helmets, want to support wherever we can, because there is life after Assad – and it starts now!
