While many people spend the Christmas season with their loved ones, nine volunteer Grünhelme consciously choose otherwise. They are working on an important preparation for the new year – a new year on the high seas. For the second year in a row, they are once again making the motor sailer Nadir seaworthy together with RESQSHIP e.V.
We wish you a Merry Christmas! This year’s Christmas message takes us to Syria, where after years of war and displacement people are returning, children can finally go back to school, and collective reconstruction is creating a future.
Exchanging ideas and sharing experiences: That was the focus of our alumni meeting in May. The Green Helmets were also the first to learn about a planned new project.
In our projects in Malawi and Sierra Leone, we continuously face the same challenge: How can we construct durable and functional buildings in the most environmentally friendly way possible? The answer led us to a construction technique that combines traditional mud building methods with contemporary processing technology: Soil Stabilized Blocks (SSB).
The former liberal Federal Minister of the Interior was a member of the Grünhelme (Green Helmets) board of trustees and a long-time supporter of our work. He was 92 years old.
