Chad
Expansion of a School (since 2025)
Chad is one of the most important refuge countries for people from Sudan’s Darfur region. Since the renewed outbreak of the civil war in 2023, hundreds of thousands have crossed the border. Many live in temporary camps, while the schools in the border towns have long been overcrowded.
In Tiné, we have been working since late 2025 with the organization Darfur-Hilfe, which has been active in the region for more than 20 years and founded the Kefah School there in 2004. Today, more than 1,000 children—both refugees and locals—attend this school. However, many classrooms are makeshift or overcrowded.
The planned expansion aims to give refugee children and the population of Tiné better access to education— in a region that has become a new home for many.
New Project Launched in the Context of the Darfur Conflict
The Darfur region in Sudan is one of the world’s major crisis zones: massive violence, displacement, and expulsion are part of daily life. Many people are fleeing to neighboring Chad. We are now supporting a school there.
