Building schools in South Kivu (2009–2012)

After fierce civil wars, the Green Helmets have built several schools in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo in the province of South Kivu, which is difficult to access. By the end of 2012, a total of four large school complexes, each with several buildings, had been built in Kasika, Kibe, Kamituga and Kitutu. The schools are used, managed and maintained by the local sponsors. Thanks to the new buildings, the number of pupils in all four schools has increased significantly – in some cases even doubling.
