300 new houses for Aceh (2005)

Immediately after the tsunami in the Indian Ocean at Christmas 2004, the Green Helmets built 300 new houses for the worst-affected families in two completely destroyed fishing villages in the Aceh region. The recipients of the houses not only worked in the provisional Green Helmets carpentry workshop on site, but also assembled their prefabricated house themselves.
