Reconstruction aid after severe earthquake (2015–2018)
The two severe earthquakes at the end of April and beginning of May 2015 claimed the lives of more than 8,800 people in Nepal, and countless houses were destroyed by the violent tremors. Since then, the Green Helmets have built a total of 53 earthquake-proof houses in the village of Pauwa in the Kavrepalanchok district. The Green Helmets have also completed the construction of a further 20 earthquake-proof houses in the village of Phulping in the Sindhupalchok district. In addition, the Green Helmets are working on a well project to supply drinking water to a total of five villages for more than 1,300 people, including Pauwa. Work on the new drinking water well in Chandeni is expected to be completed by the end of 2018.
