Delivering food in times of famine (2011)
During the great drought in the Horn of Africa in 2011, the Green Helmets brought food to various refugee camps in one of Somalia’s five unofficially autonomous regions: Somaliland. Well over 100,000 tons of rice and flour were distributed in this way. The Green Helmets were also able to temporarily supply thousands of internally displaced persons with oil, salt, blankets and other essential goods.
