School construction project on the border with Syria (2014–2015)

Together with the german association Barada Syrienhilfe e.V., the Green Helmets have built an elementary school for Syrian refugee children in Demirköprü, Turkey, not far from the border with Syria. While the Green Helmets were responsible for the construction of the buildings, Barada Syrienhilfe e.V. is responsible for the continued operation of the school. After 130 Syrian children were initially taught in the school, the purchase of a bus meant that children from the neighboring villages can now also take part in the school lessons. As a result, the number of pupils being taught has now risen to 300.
